Introducing Kenya

8 Days: Nairobi – Lewa Conservancy – Masai Mara

Begin by spending the night in Nairobi before flying into the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy area. Some of Africa’s best rhino safaris can be found here. Spend your days looking for wildlife on game drives, horseback riding, camel trekking, bush walks, archaeological site excursions, and lectures on the history of conservation, for which this catchment is famous.
The world-famous Masaai Mara is your next stop. An area well-known for its incredible wildlife and vast open landscapes. We’ve recommended lodges in the Conservancy areas that border the wildlife reserve because they provide a far more exclusive safari than those in the national park and benefit local communities. Enjoy some of the best game viewing in the world, as well as bush walks and night drives.

  • Days 1-2: Nairobi:

Begin your journey with a night in Nairobi, Kenya’s bustling capital. If you have time to explore, the city has a number of interesting attractions to discover. Otherwise, simply relax after your long flight before heading to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy tomorrow.

    Accommodation:

    Days 2-5:  Lewa Conservancy:

Take a small charter flight from Nairobi to the Laikipia plateau to begin your safari adventure in Kenya. Explore the breathtaking Lewa Wildlife Conservancy on camels, horses, safari vehicles, and even from the skies in a bright yellow bi-plane (extra cost). A morning and afternoon game drive is the backbone of a day in Lewa; the wildlife here is diverse, with good numbers of rhino, lion, wild dog, and elephant, as well as more unusual species like the reticulated giraffe and Grevy’s zebra. You can meet some of the rangers and anti-poaching patrol teams if you are interested.

    Accommodation:

    Days 5-8:  Mara Conservancies:

Fly to the Mara Conservancies to begin your safari’s second leg. The Mara Conservancies, which surround the Masai Mara National Reserve, provide visitors with the ultimate safari experience, including low tourist density, incredible day and night game viewing, walking safaris, and authentic cultural interactions. Above all, these conservancies are managed in a way that protects the fragile eco-system while also benefiting the landowners – the Masai people.

    Accommodation:

    Days 8:  Departure:

Transfer from your lodge to the Mara Conservancies airstrip and board your light aircraft flight from Mara to Nairobi. Transfer from Wilson Airport to Nairobi International Airport for your flight home.
