Gorilla Trekking & Big 5 Safari

12 Days: Entebbe – Bwindi – Nairobi – Solio – Samburu

Home » Tours & Safaris » Gorilla Trekking & Big 5 Safari
Meet the mountain gorillas in a spectacular and adventurous setting – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda – before embarking on a big 5 adventure in northern Kenya.
Begin your journey in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which provides a more authentic and, at times, more difficult trekking experience than its Rwandan counterpart. You’ll spend two full days on gorilla treks, spending a total of two hours with these humbling creatures.
Then, for one night, fly to Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, and visit the orphan elephants and rhinos at The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Then it’s on to the green hills of Solio Reserve, a private sanctuary known for its white and black rhinos. Spend your days in the shadow of Mount Kenya spotting big cats and pachyderms on safari, exploring on horseback rides and treks, and fishing for trout at the ranch’s only lodge.
It’s only a short drive from here to Samburu and the opulent Sasaab Lodge. On walking safaris and camel rides, try to spot the ‘Samburu Special Five’ – the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx – as well as get a glimpse into Samburu life, culture, and tradition, or spend a night fly camping in the bush under the stars.

There are also 79 mammal species to keep you company, including duiker, elephant, bushbuck, bush pig, giant forest hog, and several small cat species. It is a very diverse region of Uganda, and with a guide, you will have time to explore the flora and fauna, as well as various species of birds, butterflies, and other larger mammals, and possibly visit local communities on the park’s outskirts.
