Lamai Serengeti Lodge
An experience that is highly sought after in relation to the epic journey of these fantastic beasts
Lamai Serengeti Lodge is perched on a kopje overlooking the vast open Serengeti plains towards Kenya’s Masai Mara. With only 12 delightfully stylish rooms perched in, around, and on top of the rock, you will be well catered for and inspired by this little slice of paradise.
This lodge is ideally located to catch sightings of the migration as it attempts to cross the Mara River (July to October), and it offers a highly sought-after experience in relation to the epic journey of these fantastic beasts. The northern Serengeti, where Lamai is perfectly located, is a very different world than the southern Serengeti.
With an abundance of lush foliage to graze on, the plains game in this area rarely needs to move on in search of greener pastures. As a result, the predators do not have to leave the safety of their territories to hunt, and they can remain smug in the areas surrounding the lodge.
Although leopards have a larger territorial space to traverse, they do not need to exhaust themselves and can sometimes be seen skulking among the kopjes that characterize this part of the Serengeti.
A smaller, more private and exclusive lodge with four rooms is not far from the main lodge, and neither lodge is aware of its existence. Each camp has its own pool, dining area, and lounge. Both are classically designed and built to blend in with their surroundings. The rooms are a mix of canvas and more sturdy materials that make use of the rocks on which they are built and have spectacular views from above. Each has its own private viewing deck and veranda for those breathtaking sunsets.
