Serengeti National Park

Africa’s most famous and spectacular game park

Home » Destinations » Tanzania » Serengeti National Park
Tanzania’s most valuable treasure, its oldest and most popular national park, is the renowned Serengeti National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is home to the white-bearded wildebeest, extends into Kenya, where it is known as the Masai Mara. The Serengeti National Park has the highest concentration of large mammals in the world, as well as over 2,500 lions. Experience all of this opulence with a luxury Serengeti safari from Kizo Safaris.
Every year, the Serengeti National Park plays host to the Great Migration. Over 1.5 million wildebeest and 250,000 zebra cross the Grumeti and Mara Rivers in search of greener pastures, following an instinctual ancient rhythm of survival and conquest. This is a sight that is at the top of many travelers’ bucket lists and never fails to disappoint.
Another must-see attraction in the Serengeti National Park is calving season, when 8,000 wildebeest are born daily in January and February. Nothing beats the sight of a baby wildebeest bolting just minutes after birth. This is also when the most predators arrive in search of their next meal. But don’t be fooled. An easy kill is not always guaranteed.

Best time to visit:

The migration usually occurs in the area from July to September. However, it is still a fantastic place to visit until November.

Things to do at the park:

1. The Great Migration
2. Game Viewing
3. Walking Safaris
4. Iconic Savanna Landscapes
