Best known for its tree-climbing lion

The smaller, more exclusive Lake Manyara National Park surrounds Lake Manyara and stretches for 31 miles along the base of the towering golden ridges of the Rift Valley escarpment. A sign at the entrance to Lake Manyara National Park begs your attention, saying, “Remove nothing from this Park except: Nourishment for the soul, Consolation for the heart, Inspiration for the mind.” That is exactly what Lake Manyara provides. The compact game viewing here is a veritable reflection of the Tanzanian safari experience, with expert guides who are both lovers of the park’s ecosystem and avid birders.
The park is also home to Manyara’s legendary tree-climbing lions and vast elephant herds, as well as the world’s largest concentration of baboons, which coexist with Skyes monkeys and short-eared bushbabies in the lush groundwater forests.
