Rekero is a tranquil nine-tent camp located on the banks of the Talek River in Kenya’s Masai Mara. The camp is spread out along the river, from a large bend to an ancient wildebeest crossing point in front of a large mess tent.
The interiors are spacious, with comfortable beds, and each tent has a veranda with river views. The tent’s back door leads to a tented bathroom equipped with a flush toilet, a sink, and a safari shower.
During their stay, a team of safari chefs prepares fresh and tasty home-style meals for guests. Meals are served on game drives, at the water’s edge under an African Pepper tree, or by candlelight in the open mess tent higher up the bank.
The area not only has an unusual concentration and diversity of wildlife, but it also hosts one of nature’s most spectacular spectacles: the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra across the Serengeti/Mara eco system. Even when the migration is not present, there is enough resident game to ensure that even in the off season, it remains one of the best wildlife destinations in Africa.
