Ol Donyo Lodge
The lodge has a strong and healthy relationship with the Maasai people who live on the land with them.
Ol Donyo Lodge is located on the slopes of Chyulu Hills National Park, in the heart of the 275,000-acre Mbirikani Group Ranch.
There are no two suites alike, but they all have stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the waterhole. Each of the six suites, plus one two-bedroom family unit, has its own plunge pool and roof terrace with intimate “star beds” that can be set up, giving guests the thrill of sleeping in style under a canopy of endless stars. The interiors are decorated in earthy tones, with pops of color, wildlife photography, and local craftwork adding style and personality. Bathrooms have flush toilets, indoor and outdoor showers, a deep stone tub, and double sinks.
The main lodge includes a lounge with a large stone fireplace, a small library, a large verandah, and a dining room. There’s also an infinity pool, which is ideal for relaxing at the end of the day or cooling off in the midday heat.
The lodge has a strong and healthy relationship with the Maasai people who live on the land with them. The ranch is owned by 4,000 Maasai and leased to them, with the lease and conservancy fees going back into the community.
Because of its location, the opportunities to explore the land are limitless. Guided bush walks are popular because they provide insight into the finer details of the African bush. It is also possible to travel further afield by horseback or bicycle. An open-air hide allows guests to get up close and personal with the local wildlife, and game drives are available in the early morning and late afternoon.
