Days 1-2: Arusha:
Begin your journey with a night in Arusha. If you have time to explore, the city has a number of interesting attractions to discover. Otherwise, simply relax after your long flight before heading to Ngorongoro tomorrow.
Accommodation:
- Arusha Coffee Lodge (1 night)
Days 2-4: Ngorongoro:
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and depart for Ngorongoro Crater with lunch en route at Lake Manyara followed by your afternoon game drive at Lake Manyara National Park. Thereafter, depart for Ngorongoro where you’ll arrive late in the afternoon for check-in and overnight stay at your lodge.
Spend your three days exploring the Ngorongoro Crater and Conservation Area’s dramatic scenery and wildlife. The world’s largest intact volcanic caldera, its magnificent topography, and fertile soils attract a diverse range of plains game and predators, creating a thrilling amphitheater of wildlife viewing. The Big Five, including the Black Rhino, are all present, and you can see flamingos on the central soda lake, zebras grazing on the plains, lions lazing in the tall grass, leopards lying in the trees, and big “tuskers” in the forests.
Accommodation:
Days 4-6: Grumeti:
Check out of your lodge after breakfast and transfer to the Manyara airstrip for a light aircraft flight to the Grumeti Airstrip, where you will be met and transferred to your lodge for the next two nights.
This private concession, which borders the Serengeti National Park on the west, has all of the park’s big game highlights in a more intimate and exclusive wilderness shared by only three lodges. This means that your daily game drives will almost certainly be private and without another vehicle in sight. Horseback riding and balloon ride over the bush are two more activities available for exploring the area.
Accommodation:
Days 6-8: North Serengeti:
Check out of your lodge after breakfast and transfer to Grumeti Airstrip airstrip for a light aircraft flight to the Kogatende airstrip, where you will be met and transferred to your lodge for the next two nights.
Spend your days on safari exploring the northern reaches of the Serengeti, tracking the diverse array of game and wildlife that this vast area has to offer. If you’re lucky enough to be there during the great migration (depending on the season), this is the region where the herds are most concentrated as they seek to cross the Mara River to reach the open grasslands beyond, and it’s where you’ll see iconic river crossings. It’s also a place of wild natural beauty, with rolling hills, rivers, forests, and open plains.
Accommodation:
Days 8: Departure:
Transfer from your lodge to Kogatende airstrip and board your light aircraft flight from Northern Serengeti to Kilimanjaro Airport for your homebound flight.
